Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary and strategic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead Takween
Africa into its next phase of growth and impact. This individual will be responsible for
executing the company's mission, driving operational excellence, expanding our footprint
across the country and the region, and ensuring financial sustainability. The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with a proven track record in the management, moreso in the healthcare sector, exceptional financial acumen, and a deep passion for transforming healthcare in the country.
Role Overview

executing the company's mission, driving operational excellence, expanding our footprint
across the country and the region, and ensuring financial sustainability. The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with a proven track record in the management, moreso in the healthcare sector, exceptional financial acumen, and a deep passion for transforming healthcare in the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Vision: Develop and execute a comprehensive long-term strategy that amplifies Takween's impact, expands its service offerings, and solidifies its position as a leader in healthcare transformation.
- Financial Stewardship & Fundraising: Ensure the company's financial health and sustainability and manage the organization's budget, cash flow, and financial reporting with the highest integrity.
- Governance & Board Relations: Work closely with and report to the Board of Directors. Implement board directives and policies, ensure robust corporate governance, and maintain transparent communication on strategy, risks, and performance.
- Operational Excellence: Provide oversight to all operational functions including hospital management projects, health systems strengthening programs, and consulting engagements. Ensure the delivery of high-quality, measurable, and impactful results for all clients and partners.
- Business Development & Partnerships: Drive growth by identifying new opportunities, forging strategic partnerships with private health entities, governments, and international partners and international bodies (e.g., WHO, Africa CDC).
- Team Leadership & Culture: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performance team. Foster a culture of continuous learning that champions and safeguards Takween's core values (Integrity, Excellence, Collaboration, Impact, Innovation) across all operations and teams.
- External Representation & Advocacy: Serve as the primary spokesperson of Takween Africa. Build the brand, advocate for improved healthcare systems, and engage with key stakeholders at the highest levels.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 15 years of senior leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a CEO, Managing Director, or equivalent C-Suite role within the private sector, healthcare, management, consulting, or international development sectors.
- A first degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field is required. A postgraduate degree in Business Administration (MBA), Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is advantageous.
- Deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, including its challenges, key players, and funding mechanisms. Experience working with government health systems, NGOs, and donor agencies is highly desirable.
- Exceptional strategic planning and execution skills, with a proven track record of scaling organizations or business units and managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire teams and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Kiswahili or other African languages is a significant advantage.
- Strong governance experience and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with a Board of Directors.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
- Experience with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and collaboration tools.
