The Grants and Fundraising Officer will provide essential technical and administrative support for the entire grants management cycle. This includes donor research and mapping, developing and reviewing proposals, and ensuring the timely submission of project proposals and reports in line with established needs and grant agreements.
Job Summary
The Grants and Fundraising Officer is responsible for managing grants administration for ECAP. This role is critical for developing and implementing the ECAP fundraising plan to grow and sustain resources, ensuring the efficient management of donor contracts, developing strategic partnerships for fundraising, and providing fundraising support across all programs by working with teams to develop high-quality proposals. The officer will create a strong link with the Good Shepherd International Foundation (GSIF) to increase and diversify funding and will participate in activities to raise the visibility of Good Shepherd programs and advocacy initiatives.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
• Provide leadership in developing and implementing fundraising strategies, systems, and tools. < r>• Conduct research and analysis of donors within the province to understand the donor environment and long-term preferences. < r>• Map and identify potential network members who could complement ECAP's work in funding opportunities. < r>• Coordinate with the MDO team and program staff for the submission of innovative and high quality proposals. < r>• Support program staff in managing donor networking and liaison to increase MDO-ECAP’s profile across the donor community.
• Represent MDO-ECAP externally to improve networking with other organizations on funding issues. < r>• Manage proposal development and awards management systems to ensure timely planning, follow-up, and donor reporting. < r>• Work closely with other teams to ensure that learning generated from projects is adequately captured in donor reports. < r>• Facilitate capacity building for ECAP staff in grants contract management in line with donor requirements. < r>Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
• Academic Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in project management, development studies, monitoring and evaluation, or other related qualifications is required. A master’s degree in social sciences is preferable.
• Work Experience: A minimum of five years of progressive work experience in a comparable role in a reputable institution is required. Proven experience in fundraising, partnership development, grants management, and proposal writing are a must.
Skills and Competencies:
Good understanding of project design, project cycle management, log frame development, and donor report writing.
Critical thinking and analytical skills.
Knowledge of emerging funding trends and donor priorities in the region.
Skills to train and support partners in developing resource mobilization strategy and fundraising techniques.
Proven ability to work with Excel spreadsheets and develop budgets.
Previous working experience with faith-based organizations and an understanding of religious life is a strong advantage.
Proven computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mails.
Flexibility to travel regionally at short notice.

The Role
AECF is seeking a Creative Writer - Resource Mobilization to join the Partnerships Unit. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and driven writer to contribute to AECF’s fundraising and donor engagement goals through high-quality, persuasive written content. The officer will play a critical role in developing proposals, donor reports, communication briefs, and thought leadership material that articulate AECF’s value proposition, program impact, and funding needs.
This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong command of written English, exceptional storytelling ability, and an interest in development finance, agriculture, renewable energy, and climate resilience.
The officer will play a pivotal role in advancing AECF’s resource mobilization efforts by supporting the partnerships team in developing proposals and concept notes to meet donor requirements, thereby securing funds for the organization. They will also contribute to the development and design of compelling pitch decks that effectively articulate the organization’s mission, vision, and value proposition to prospective partners.
Additionally, they will be required to do market research, analyze market trends, and donor landscapes to identify strategic opportunities, while also coordinating engagement activities such as events, meetings, and site visits.
The role will be reporting to the Senior Partnerships Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Draft compelling grant proposals, donor reports, and investment cases that are data-driven, impact-oriented, and aligned with AECF’s strategic objectives and donor priorities. < r> ranslate raw and complex data into actionable insights that enhance narrative quality in donor proposals and inform partnership development strategies.
Collaborate closely with technical teams, MEL staff, and fundraising leads to gather input and translate technical program data into engaging content; that reinforces AECF’s value proposition and competitive advantage. < r> D velop tailored content packages (concept notes, capability statements, case studies) to support donor cultivation and partnership development.
Working with the communications team, support the development of strategic communication pieces that position AECF as a thought leader in private sector development and inclusive finance.
Contribute to speechwriting, op-eds, and blog content for senior leadership and external publication.
Research and profile existing and prospective donors to inform content development strategies and align with donor engagement approaches.
Contribute to knowledge management of AECF’s impact, strategy, and sectoral priorities to ensure narrative coherence across written outputs. < r> M intain a repository of core proposal and communications materials, ensuring version control and content consistency.
Manage content development timelines and ensure timely, high-quality delivery of writing assignments with minimal supervision.
Coordinate inputs across teams, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency in outputs.
Translate technical inputs from programs, MEL, and partnerships teams into clear, compelling prose.
Draft, edit, and format written pieces for internal and external audiences, ensuring alignment with AECF’s branding and editorial standards. < r>
Suitable candidates should:
P ssess a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Development Studies, International Relations, Business, or a related field. < r> H ve a minimum of five(5) years of professional writing experience, preferably in a development, fundraising, or donor-facing context.
Demonstrate experience in producing high-quality, persuasive writing for external audiences; previous grant writing or donor reporting experience is highly desirable.
Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple complex writing projects with competing deadlines.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Have a strong interest in development finance, agriculture, climate change, and rural development.
Have strong background in Agribusiness, Agric economics, Renewable Energy, or Finance is preferred
Demonstrate strong analytical and conceptual thinking.
