Responsibilities:
- Design and develop comprehensive irrigation system plans, considering water sources, soil types, crop requirements, and topography.
- Select appropriate irrigation technologies (drip, sprinkler, center pivot, etc.) based on project-specific needs and environmental conditions.
- Utilize CAD software and other engineering tools to create detailed system layouts and specifications.
- Conduct hydraulic calculations and system performance analyses to ensure optimal efficiency and water distribution.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of irrigation systems, providing technical guidance remotely.
- Develop and implement water management plans to maximize crop yield while minimizing water consumption.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to irrigation system operation and maintenance.
- Collaborate with agronomists, environmental scientists, and project managers to integrate irrigation plans into broader agricultural strategies.
- Stay current with advancements in irrigation technology, water conservation practices, and relevant regulations.
- Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and project proposals.
- Conduct site assessments using remote sensing data and GIS tools where applicable.
- Train and support field teams on the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in the design and management of agricultural irrigation systems.
- Proven expertise in various irrigation techniques and technologies.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and hydraulic modeling software.
- Strong understanding of soil-water-plant relationships and water resource management.
- Experience with GIS and remote sensing data for irrigation planning is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information effectively across different cultures and time zones.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fully remote environment.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is an advantage.
