KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):

  • Ensure the organization of all required meetings related to the contracting process including Logistics Contracting Committees are well informed to support decision-making.
  • Prepare and disseminate information regarding contract status and any other required information including minutes, Expression of Interest (EOI), Contract Awards, and Note for Record (NFR) documents
  • Consolidate and analyze relevant market data to inform the design of logistics services taking into consideration key variables such as fuel costs and competition.
  • Work in close collaboration with cross-functional counterparts to align Contracting activities and promote an integrated supply-chain approach to transport and service assistance.
  • Monitor and manage contract validity dates and other relevant information regarding active agreements ensuring proactive planning of needs and contracting requirements.

An international non-profit organisation based in Africa is seeking a
Supply Chain & Logistics Associate
to support and optimise their procurement and logistics operations across the region. This role is based in
Nairobi, Kenya
.

based in Kenya
and will play a pivotal part in ensuring the smooth flow of products across Sub-Saharan Africa.

The successful candidate will support end-to-end supply chain activities, working closely with suppliers, distributors, and internal teams. This position offers the chance to contribute to meaningful impact, while supporting organisational growth and efficiency.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field (master's or certifications such as CIPS/KISM preferred).
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in supply chain management, logistics, or procurement.
  • Strong skills in Excel and inventory management systems.
  • Previous experience operating across Sub-Saharan Africa preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment - need to conduct regular meetings with suppliers in Asia

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
  • Manage procurement processes, purchase orders, and supplier relationships.
  • Track shipments, freight quotes, and shipping documentation from origin to destination.
  • Ensure compliance with international and local logistics regulations.
  • Monitor supply chain KPIs including delivery performance, costs, and inventory turnover.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Finance, and Customer Support) to meet business goals.
  • Drive improvements to optimise costs, lead times, and operational efficiency.

Desired Skills and Experience

Understanding of international and local logistics laws, import requirements, and safety standards.

Exceptional attention to detail (ability to manage multiple moving parts accurately).

Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written in English).

Ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers, distributors, and cross-functional teams (Sales, Finance, Customer Support).

Comfortable in a fast-paced, startup-like environment where priorities can shift quickly.

Job Description

This is a multi-faceted role which requires the person to coordinate with key stakeholders across countries to ensure supplier readiness and capacity to meet requirements. This role is responsible for supply planning, logistics planning and order tracking in order to ensure improved order visibility and logistics management.

R&Rs

  • Assure on time delivery and reliable logistics operations for d.light managed warehouses and d.light distribution points across African markets
  • Manage global logistics providers to ensure performance meets expectations and costs are within budget
  • Develop procedures to ensure visibility into all product orders and their associated demand and supply plans
  • Collaborate with supply chain teams at all levels to improve planning execution, quality and on-going integration of demand and supply plans and procurement activities
  • Track orders from order to delivery and take action proactively to ensure flow of goods
  • Identify root causes with order delays and opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Define long term strategy for optimal planning and logistics management and resource requirements including staffing, procedures and software
  • Track payment status to ensure payment are made on time to suppliers
  • Escalate supplier performance issues, align on supply plans, and participate in key business review feedback

Requirements

  • A degree in supply chain management or a related technical field is required
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in planning and logistics
  • Experience in developing structured planning and logistics methodology and coordinating cross-functional teams
  • Expert knowledge of: supply chain management best practices, including demand planning, forecasting, inventory management, and supply planning in Africa
  • Effectively manages ambiguity
  • Experience switching from supplier managed freight to managing logistics providers directly
  • Strong demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid experience planning, organizing, analyzing and problem solving
  • Communicates effectively in both technical speak and commercial/business language (multiple language will be an advantage), with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy
  • Business driven, people focused, with exceptional influencing skills
