Role Summary
The Office of the President, AGRA, provides leadership and strategic oversight across AGRA's activities, drives key partnerships, and coordinates high-level engagements.
The intern will support the Office of the President Team with research, coordination, communications, and administrative tasks. The role offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into executive office management and leadership at a continental agricultural development organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Executive Support:
- Assist the team in preparing and/reviewing briefing notes, talking points, and background materials for the President.
- Support the team in coordinating internal and external meetings, including agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions.
Research & Analysis:
- Conduct desk research on topics related to food systems, policy trends, and stakeholder analysis.
- Support the team in preparing summaries, reports, and policy briefs as needed.
Communications:
- Support the team in drafting internal memos, correspondence, and communications.
- Support the team in speech writing, presentation development, and content review.
Administrative & Logistical Support:
- Assist the team in managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and preparing travel itineraries.

Stakeholder Engagement:
- Carry out stakeholder engagement, including coordination with donors, government officials, partner institutions, and key stakeholders.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or master's degree in international relations, Business Administration, Development Studies, Public Policy, Agriculture, or related field.
- Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor and ability to handle sensitive information.
- Computer savviness.

The Program
The RE-GAIN program - Scaling solutions for food loss in Africa, aims to address the impacts of climate change on harvest and post-harvest food losses in seven African countries: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. The program focuses on strengthening food security by supporting the innovative adaptation of the harvest and post-harvest value chain. It seeks to reduce food loss, improve food quality, enhance local capacity, and reduce climate risks through the wide-scale adoption of Food Loss-Reduction Solutions (FL-RS) among smallholder farmers. The program operates across three primary pathways: farmer-centric, supplier-centric, and institutional support.
The Position
The Program Analyst will provide support, regular updates, and generate insights on program performance data for the Program Management Unit (PMU) to support the Lead-PMU in the oversight and management functions of the PMU, ensuring accountability to AGRA senior leadership. He/ she will be responsible for the coordination and management of the REGAIN program data, documentation, and processes related to implementation in all 7 countries.
The ideal candidate will also support the PMU in administration functions, reporting, compliance, and internal and external communications within the REGAIN program.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Program Administrative Management
:
- Oversee and manage all arrangements, including outside logistics related to conferences and workshops under the REGAIN program.
- Oversee and manage processes related to meeting management, including budget preparation and approval, drafting meeting memos, procuring services, managing funds transfers and DSA payments, processing payments for goods and services, reconciling payments, and following up on payment and vendor management.
- Maintain a real-time record of ongoing projects and those in the pipeline.
- Maintain a database of contacts, including addresses, telephone numbers, and other relevant information about institutions that the unit deals with.
- Maintain a robust online filing system for the REGAIN Program.
- Oversee a comprehensive range of administrative responsibilities, including calendar management, travel arrangements, local transport management, invoice processing, and providing support and training to staff on AGRA's administrative systems and processes.
- Manage the audit process alongside the internal audit team by providing supporting documents and collaborating with teams to respond to internal and external audit recommendations.
- Oversee the Team Central Audit system and follow up with the team on pending issues.
- Coordinate communications by collaborating with communication teams for promotion, monitoring, evaluating, and organizing high-profile meetings through meticulous attention to detail and proactive communication.
- Relay, respond to, and reroute general requests for information and electronic communication, facilitating liaison with implementation teams as necessary.
- Identify, compile, and extract information from files, publications, databases, and other sources, either on related initiative or as directed by the unit.
- Collaborate with the POD Team to ensure optimal use of office equipment, supplies, and inventories through preventive maintenance.
- Maintain up-to-date leave plans and travel records for the unit.
Team Meeting Management
- Provides timely information on relevant materials and updates regarding planned travel and meetings.
- Take notes and prepare meeting reports.
- Manage administrative duties in organizing meetings and tracking contract deliverables.
Procurement Management
- Initiate procurement requests, raise requisitions, follow up on payment processing, review reimbursable invoices, and validate supporting documents.
- Onboard service providers/consultants on AGRA processes and aligning milestones with payment disbursements.
- Initiate contract amendments – drafting the amendment memos and justification for submission to procurement.
- Align and monitor service providers' achievements against targets as per the REGAIN program.
Reporting:
- Provide support to oversight by assisting technical officers in reviewing progress reports on AMIS and Oracle.
- Maintaining shared spreadsheets to track program administrative expenses.
- delivers together with the Lead – Program Management Office the preparation of donor reports, board reports, and AGRA annual and quarterly reports.
Key Qualifications and Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in project management, Business, Management, Public Administration, Communication, or any related area.
- Project Management certification would be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with project management tools.
- Proven track record of supporting multiple executives simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of corporate operations and executive-level communication.
- Exhibits the ability to effectively coordinate logistical arrangements for conferences and workshops, manage comprehensive meeting processes including budget preparation, approval, and procurement of services, and ensure timely communication of relevant updates regarding travel and meetings.

The Position
The Chief of Partnerships and Business Development (CPBD) will shape and lead AGRA's institution-wide partnership and fundraising agenda, positioning the organization to attract, align, and sustain diverse forms of capital and collaboration in support of its strategy.
This role combines relationship stewardship, strategic positioning, resource mobilization, and investment partnership development. The CPBD will manage and grow AGRA's ecosystem of funders and strategic partners, while also designing innovative, fit-for-purpose investment and partnership platforms to advance food systems transformation.
This leadership opportunity is for an individual with deep integrity, cross-cultural intelligence, and a passion for designing systems that shape the future. A senior, strategic leader with deep credibility across development, investment, and philanthropy networks. Someone who blends influence with humility, is inspired by African-led transformation, and brings an instinct for building alignment across complexity. The CPBD will report directly to AGRA's President and serve on the Executive Committee.
The CPBD will:
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to the President on global positioning, strategic partnerships, and resource strategies.
- Guide AGRA's institutional engagement with bilateral and multilateral donors, philanthropic foundations, private sector actors, DFIs, sovereign wealth funds, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Oversee and strengthen the Development Cooperation, Private Sector Engagement, and Institutional Partnerships teams.

Position: Contracting Officer (Short term contract)
The ideal candidate will manage the entire Procurement contract lifecycle to ensure compliance, efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals. This includes drafting and negotiating contracts, amending contracts, engaging stakeholders, monitoring vendor performance, and addressing any issues or disputes that arise. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in mitigating risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and stakeholders. His/her work supports effective procurement, legal adherence, and operational efficiency.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure procurement processes have been carried out in compliance with the procurement policy before initiating any contract.
- Ensure timely initiation of contracts and purchase orders and follow through to signature and performance.
- Coordinate with contract supervisors to ensure timely contract performance and submission of deliverables. Any challenges shall be reported and resolved on time.

- Review contracting templates and recommend changes aimed at improving efficiency in the contracting and contract management cycle.
- Support efforts to build supplier relationships to deliver breakthrough performance in cost, service, and quality.
- Implement audit recommendations on a timely basis.
Key Qualifications and Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in law.
- Membership in a professional association is desired.
- Possession of procurement training will be an added advantage.
- Experience in contracting in a multi-program International NGO.
- Experience and knowledge of procurement processes shall be an added advantage.

The Position
General Counsel & Corporation Secretary
Purpose:
To lead AGRA's legal function and governance, ensuring the institution operates with integrity, compliance, and accountability while maximizing the effectiveness of its Board and governance structures.
This role combines legal stewardship, board governance, institutional compliance, and strategic advisory to the President and Board. The General Counsel & Corporate Secretary will ensure AGRA's legal resilience across its multi-country operations, while enabling its Board to play a more strategic, value-adding role in the transformation of African food systems.
The General Counsel & Corporate Secretary will report to the President administratively and to the Board Chair in their secretarial capacity, serving as a key member of AGRA's executive leadership team.
The General Counsel & Corporate Secretary will:
- Serve as AGRA's principal legal advisor
: oversee all legal matters, mitigate legal risk, and ensure statutory and regulatory compliance across multiple African jurisdictions. - Strengthening governance and Board effectiveness

Legal Stewardship and Risk Management
- Serve as AGRA's principal legal advisor, providing timely counsel to the President, Executive Committee, and Board.

- Lead contract negotiation, drafting and review for grants, procurements, partnerships, and consultancy agreements.

Compliance and Regulatory Affairs

- Master's degree in law from a recognized university; admission to the Bar in a sub-Saharan African jurisdiction.
- Certified Public Secretary; Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
- Minimum 15 years' post-qualification legal experience, with significant leadership in pan-African or multi-country roles.
- Proven experience in board governance, corporate secretariat functions, and compliance management.
- Strong negotiation, litigation, and contract management expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to build legal teams and mentor senior counsel.
- Excellent communication skills: ability to influence and align senior stakeholders, including Board members.
- Experience in non-profit, intergovernmental, or international development organizations is a distinct advantage.

The Logistics and Stores Coordinator will optimize inventory control and ensure that the logistics functions contribute to the overall efficiency of the organization. The role supports smooth daily operations, minimizes operational disruptions, and ensures that the right items are in place at the right time, contributing to operational success.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating vehicle logistics, store management, courier support, and the coordination of maintenance of office equipment for the AGRA headquarters Office in Nairobi. The role oversees the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, maintaining accurate stock levels and ensuring the logistics operations run smoothly. The role is also responsible for managing staff parking services in liaison with the office building management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate transport requests from staff for both taxi and car hire requests and ensure necessary approvals and compliance as per AGRA policy.
- Verify AGRA car hire fleet recommendation based on the service level agreement.
- Action field logistic requests as per program requisitions provided.
- Plan and inform program teams on security field logistics route planning as per programme itinerary.
- Coordinate office courier services as per vendor Service Level Agreements.
- Provide office messenger services for internal stakeholders.

- Ensure invoice confirmation for both goods and services against contracts and framework contracts is in place.
- Verify equipment and consumables invoices against stocks/inventory received.
- Consult with various Units to understand their logistics and store requirements for efficient planning.
- Manage AGRA office/ staff parking by ensuring that slots assigned to AGRA are available when needed and staff have the required passes to access the car park.
- Escalate any security concerns raised by premise management as far as access to parking services is concerned.
- Conduct security clearance for AGRA assets for both off-site offices and courier purposes.
- Sequence the loading and offloading of the vehicle.
Key Qualifications and Experience Required:
- A minimum of a Diploma in Business Administration, inventory, or store management, or equivalent from a recognized Institution.
- Experience in logistics, supply chain, or warehouse management will be an added advantage.
- Experience in route planning and working with third-party logistics service providers.
- Training in logistics/fleet/health/inventory management.
- Ability to work independently in a diverse environment.
- Proficiency in computer use and other office operations systems.
- Familiarity with working for non-profit organizations or public enterprises.
