Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice on a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements, including vendor contracts, service agreements, and partnership deals.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on complex legal issues.
- Advise on risk management strategies and develop policies to mitigate legal exposure.
- Manage external counsel and coordinate litigation efforts when required.
- Assist in corporate governance matters and regulatory filings.
- Support the legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and other significant transactions.
- Develop and deliver legal training to employees on relevant compliance topics.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external legal professionals.
- Stay updated on legislative changes and legal developments affecting the business.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from a recognized institution.
- Admission to the Kenyan Bar and a valid practicing certificate.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience as a practicing lawyer, preferably with in-house corporate experience or at a reputable law firm.
- Strong expertise in contract law, corporate law, and commercial litigation.
- Excellent legal research, analytical, and drafting skills.
- Proven ability to provide strategic legal advice and sound judgment.
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex legal matters simultaneously.
- Proficiency in legal research databases and standard office software.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
