Our client, a leading innovator in aviation technology, is actively seeking a highly accomplished Senior Aviation Systems Safety Engineer to join their fully remote engineering division. This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest levels of safety and reliability for complex aviation systems, encompassing aircraft avionics, flight control systems, and associated software. You will be responsible for implementing robust safety processes, conducting rigorous safety assessments, and ensuring compliance with stringent international aviation safety regulations. Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform system safety analyses, including FMEA, FTA, and HAZOP studies, for aviation systems and components.
  • Develop and maintain safety requirements and safety case documentation in compliance with aviation standards (e.g., ARP4761, DO-178C, DO-254).
  • Identify potential hazards and failure modes within system designs and operational concepts.
  • Assess the safety implications of design changes, modifications, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, software developers, and systems engineers to integrate safety considerations throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop safety monitoring plans and contribute to the investigation of safety incidents or anomalies.
  • Prepare comprehensive safety assessment reports and present findings to internal teams and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant aviation safety regulations and certification requirements.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in aviation safety engineering, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Mentor junior safety engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety processes and tools.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on aviation safety matters for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review and approve safety-critical documentation and design artifacts.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in aviation systems safety engineering.
  • In-depth knowledge of aviation safety standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g., FAA, EASA).
  • Proven experience with system safety analysis techniques (FMEA, FTA, HAZOP).
  • Familiarity with software safety standards (DO-178C) and hardware safety standards (DO-254).
  • Experience with safety engineering tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft systems, avionics, and flight control systems.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex safety information to diverse audiences remotely.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple safety assessment projects concurrently.
  • Professional certifications related to safety engineering are a plus.
