As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of complex electrical power systems. Your expertise will span from conceptualization through to commissioning, ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of electrical infrastructure for a wide array of projects. You will mentor junior engineers, drive technical innovation, and serve as a key technical authority, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the electrical design of power systems, including generation, transmission, distribution, and protection.
- Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.
- Perform load flow studies, short circuit analysis, and protection coordination studies using industry-standard software.
- Specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, generators, motors, and cables.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IEC, IEEE).
- Review and approve electrical design documents prepared by other engineers.
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level electrical engineers.
- Collaborate with project managers, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Conduct site visits and provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases (when necessary and feasible within a remote context).
- Stay abreast of new technologies, codes, and best practices in electrical engineering.
- Contribute to the development of engineering standards and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. A Master's degree is highly desirable.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent professional registration is a strong asset.
- Minimum of 10-12 years of progressive experience in electrical power systems engineering, with a significant portion in design.
- Extensive experience with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, SKM).
- Deep understanding of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC).
- Proven experience in leading design teams and managing technical aspects of projects.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
