YOUR MISSION
We are looking for an hands-on SSA Lead Lawyer that will work with the local SSA teams and the HQ legal team, managing the day-to-day implications of the business.
THE JOURNEY
- Report to the Africa Head of Legal in all related functions
- Be the main responsible for SSA legal functions
- Elaborate, review and analyze all types of commercial agreements
- Provide legal advice and ensure compliance with the regulations applicable to Glovo' s business (including privacy, labour, compliance, regulated products and others)
- Collaborate with external law firms
- Support in the analysis and implementation of strategies
- Support in the implementation of corporate governance policies, special projects and reportings functions
- Participate in due diligence, evaluate risks, elaborate corporate documentation
- Get your hands dirty – when there is a problem, you will find a way to fix it
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE RIDE
- At least 7 years of experience in the legal department of a company and/or a reputable law firm/big4, including at least 3 years within a company, with proven expertise in commercial law, consumer and antitrust law, and labor law
- Excellent English, Arabic and French. Other languages is a plus
- Ability to navigate across multiple geographies and cultures, and coordinate with all the areas within the organization
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- International profile, able to work in a flexible, collaborative and multidisciplinary environment
- High energy and creativity, an entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to work in a growing and changing environment
- Tech or industry experience as a plus

Role Description
- Draft, negotiate, and review corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with industrial and commercial clients.
- Ensure all agreements provide robust legal protections for Compass Energy, including risk allocation, performance obligations, and bankability.
- Manage regulatory compliance and approvals with the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) and other Kenyan authorities.
- Oversee and negotiate EPC contracts, O&M agreements, and vendor contracts to protect Compass Energy's interests.
- Provide strategic legal support on permitting, licensing, and applications critical to project development.
- Liaise with financiers, advisors, and regulators to ensure compliance with project finance and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer with 3–10 years' PQE in energy, infrastructure, or project finance law.
- Deep knowledge of Kenya's regulatory framework and experience working with EPRA.
- Track record in negotiating corporate PPAs and large-scale EPC/vendor contracts.
- Strong commercial acumen, balancing risk management with Compass's growth objectives.
- Experience working with industrial or commercial clients in the energy sector is a plus.
