Job Description
Responsibilities will include remotely analyzing vehicle data (telemetry, diagnostic codes, sensor readings) submitted by service centers to identify root causes of complex malfunctions. You will develop and document detailed diagnostic procedures and repair recommendations for difficult cases, and provide real-time remote support and consultation to service technicians as they perform diagnostics and repairs. This position requires extensive knowledge of various vehicle makes and models, including their electrical systems, engine management, and emission control systems. You will also be responsible for staying abreast of the latest automotive technologies, diagnostic equipment, and repair techniques, and may contribute to training materials for other technicians. Furthermore, you will collaborate with engineering and product development teams to provide feedback on vehicle performance and diagnostic challenges encountered in the field, helping to shape future automotive designs and repair strategies.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with ASE certifications in multiple areas, particularly A6 (Electrical/Electronic Systems) and A7 (Heating and A/C Systems), and preferably L1 (Advanced Engine Performance Specialist). A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience as an automotive technician, with a significant focus on complex diagnostics and electrical systems, is required. Proven experience using advanced diagnostic software and hardware is essential. You should have a thorough understanding of vehicle communication networks (e.g., CAN bus) and data acquisition methods. Excellent problem-solving skills, a meticulous approach to analysis, and the ability to think critically under pressure are paramount. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary to clearly explain technical issues and solutions to other technicians and potentially to management. As this is a remote role, you must be a highly self-disciplined, organized, and proactive individual, comfortable working independently and managing your time effectively. You will need a reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated workspace. This role offers the opportunity to apply your diagnostic expertise on a broad scale, contributing to the advancement of automotive repair and maintenance from a remote location.
