Our client is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior Geotechnical Engineer with a specialization in mining operations to join their global, fully remote team. This role is critical for providing expert geotechnical analysis, design, and consultation to support safe and efficient mining projects worldwide. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, slope stability, and mine design principles, combined with the ability to interpret complex geological data and provide practical engineering solutions. You will play a key role in risk assessment and mitigation for underground and open-pit mining operations, ensuring compliance with stringent safety and environmental standards.

- Conduct advanced geotechnical investigations and analyses for mining projects, including slope stability, ground support, and excavation design.
- Interpret geological and geotechnical data from site investigations, laboratory testing, and in-situ monitoring.
- Develop detailed geotechnical designs and recommendations for mine infrastructure, including tunnels, shafts, and surface facilities.
- Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for geotechnical hazards such as rockfalls, landslides, and subsidence.
- Provide expert technical advice and consultation to mine planning and operations teams.
- Oversee and review geotechnical modeling and simulations using specialized software.
- Ensure designs and recommendations comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, specifications, and presentations.
- Collaborate with geologists, mining engineers, and other specialists to integrate geotechnical considerations into mine planning.
- Contribute to the development of innovative geotechnical solutions and technologies within the mining sector.
- Master's degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with a significant focus on mining applications.
- Proven expertise in rock mechanics, soil mechanics, slope stability analysis, and numerical modeling (e.g., FLAC, Plaxis).
- Experience with various mining methods (underground and open-pit) and their associated geotechnical challenges.
- Familiarity with geophysical investigation techniques and ground monitoring systems.
- Strong understanding of relevant mining and geotechnical regulations and standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote environment.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent registration is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with a global, distributed team.
