Our client, a renowned manufacturer of industrial automation equipment, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering division. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to contribute your expertise from anywhere. You will be responsible for the end-to-end design and development of complex mechanical systems, from conceptualization through to production. This involves creating detailed 3D models, performing stress analysis, and generating manufacturing drawings using advanced CAD/CAM software. Your role will be critical in ensuring the performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of our innovative product lines. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of mechanical principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes, coupled with a proven ability to lead design projects and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop new mechanical components and systems for industrial automation equipment, from concept to production.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar software.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other simulations to evaluate structural integrity, thermal performance, and material stress.
  • Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes to optimize design performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists, to ensure integrated product development.
  • Develop and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and product documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues encountered during prototyping, testing, and production.
  • Research and implement new technologies and design methodologies to enhance product innovation.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.
  • Lead design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
  • Optimize existing designs for improved performance, manufacturability, and cost reduction.
  • Develop test plans and procedures for mechanical components and systems.
  • Manage design project timelines and deliverables, ensuring adherence to schedules.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and engineering workflows.
  • Maintain a high level of technical expertise and stay current with industry trends.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in industrial automation or machinery.
  • Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA) and CAM software.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, dynamics, statics, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
  • Experience with FEA software for stress, thermal, and vibration analysis.
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, stamping) and material properties.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal, for documentation and team collaboration.
  • Ability to manage complex projects independently and work effectively in a remote team environment.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with automation control systems and mechatronics is advantageous.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented approach to design and problem resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor team members.
