Our client, a leading telecommunications provider, is seeking a skilled and experienced Network Security Engineer to ensure the integrity and security of their network infrastructure. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to safeguard the network from a remote location. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing security measures to protect against cyber threats and ensure the availability and performance of our network systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network protocols, security principles, and experience with various security tools and technologies. Your responsibilities will include monitoring network traffic for suspicious activity, investigating security breaches, and implementing remediation strategies. You will develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and documentation. This role demands proactive threat assessment, vulnerability management, and incident response planning. You will collaborate with network operations teams to integrate security seamlessly into network design and operations. As a remote engineer, you will need exceptional problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and strong communication capabilities to coordinate with on-site and remote teams. You will stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends and threats to maintain a robust security posture. The successful candidate will be a vigilant protector of digital assets, committed to maintaining the highest levels of network security and resilience.

Location: This is a fully remote role, supporting the network infrastructure for our client based in Bungoma, Bungoma, KE .

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage network security solutions.
  • Monitor network performance and security for threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents and breaches.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Implement security controls such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPNs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant security regulations and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with network operations teams to ensure secure network configurations.
  • Develop incident response plans and conduct tabletop exercises.
  • Provide security awareness training to staff.
  • Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats and technologies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network security engineering.
  • Proven experience with network security technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM).
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and security principles.
  • Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and best practices.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCNA Security, or CCNP Security are highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team.
