Our client, a dynamic force in the international mining sector, is actively seeking a Lead Remote Sensing Data Analyst to spearhead their data analysis efforts for mineral exploration initiatives. This critical role is designed to be 100% remote, empowering you to contribute your expertise from any location. You will be instrumental in transforming raw remote sensing data into actionable geological insights that drive successful exploration outcomes. This position demands a blend of deep technical expertise, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to effectively communicate complex findings.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Acquire, process, and analyze various types of remote sensing data, including satellite imagery (optical and radar), aerial photography, and LiDAR, for mineral exploration targets.
  • Develop and implement advanced algorithms and workflows for feature extraction, anomaly detection, and geological mapping using remote sensing data.
  • Integrate remote sensing data with other geological datasets, such as geophysical surveys, geochemical data, and drilling information, to create comprehensive 3D models.
  • Validate and interpret remote sensing-derived geological information, collaborating with geologists and geophysicists to refine exploration models.
  • Manage and maintain a robust database of remote sensing data and associated metadata.
  • Develop and present detailed reports and visualizations of analytical findings to project teams and management.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in remote sensing technologies, image processing techniques, and GIS software.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior analysts within the remote team.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in processing and interpreting remote sensing data for geological applications, preferably within the mining industry.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard remote sensing software (e.g., ERDAS IMAGINE, ENVI, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for data analysis.
  • Solid understanding of photogrammetry, digital image processing, spectral analysis, and classification techniques.
  • Experience with various satellite platforms (e.g., Sentinel, Landsat, Planet) and their data products.
  • Proven ability to manage large geospatial datasets and develop efficient data processing pipelines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative team environment.
