Our client, a pioneering firm in renewable energy solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electrical Systems Engineer to join their team in **Mombasa, Mombasa, KE**. This role is critical for designing, developing, and implementing complex electrical systems for our innovative projects. You will be responsible for leading the electrical engineering efforts from concept through to commissioning, ensuring that all systems meet stringent performance, safety, and regulatory standards. Your responsibilities will include the design of power distribution systems, control systems, instrumentation, and integration of various electrical components. You will conduct detailed analyses, including load calculations, short circuit studies, and protection coordination, utilizing specialized software. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, power systems, control theory, and relevant industry standards. Proven experience in project management, leading engineering teams, and collaborating with cross-functional departments such as mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and project management is essential. You should be adept at problem-solving, decision-making, and communicating technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of electrical systems for complex projects.
  • Create detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, short circuit analysis, and protection studies.
  • Select appropriate electrical equipment and components.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the integration of electrical systems with other project disciplines.
  • Manage electrical engineering aspects of projects from conception to commissioning.
  • Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers and technicians.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and contractors.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system issues during installation and operation.
  • Review technical submittals and shop drawings.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering best practices and standards.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in electrical systems engineering, preferably in power generation, distribution, or renewable energy.
  • Proven experience in leading electrical engineering projects and teams.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) and power system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E).
  • Strong understanding of power system protection, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC).
  • Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent professional license is required.
  • Experience with renewable energy technologies is a significant advantage.
