- Stay current with industry best practices, emerging risks, and regulatory requirements impacting the insurance market.
- Analyze loss ratios and profitability by segment, providing insights to senior management.
- Conduct audits of underwriting files to ensure compliance and quality.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the remote underwriting team.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional designations (e.g., CPCU, FLMI) are highly preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in underwriting, with at least 4 years in a leadership or management role within the insurance industry.
- In-depth knowledge of underwriting principles, risk management, and insurance product lines.
- Proven ability to analyze financial statements, risk factors, and market data.
- Strong leadership, team management, and mentoring skills, particularly with remote teams.
- Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and CRM systems.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to manage workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
- A thorough understanding of insurance regulations and compliance requirements.
