While the projects are on-site, this position offers a remote work arrangement for the engineering design and planning phases, with occasional site visits as required. You will be responsible for leading the structural design of bridges, conducting detailed analysis, preparing design calculations, and producing construction drawings and specifications. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that designs meet all relevant codes, standards, and project requirements. You will collaborate closely with project managers, construction teams, and other engineers to ensure successful project execution from conception to completion. The ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence is also a key aspect of this role. This position demands a deep understanding of structural mechanics, materials science, and bridge design principles.
Key Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with a professional engineering license (PE) being essential. A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, with a significant focus on bridge design and construction, is required. Proven experience with bridge design software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, CSiBridge, MIDAS Civil) and FEA tools is mandatory. Strong understanding of material properties (steel, concrete, timber) and construction methods is critical. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are necessary. The ability to lead and collaborate with teams, manage multiple priorities, and effectively communicate complex technical information is crucial. While the design work is remote, occasional travel for site visits may be required. This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented engineer to contribute to impactful infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the structural design and analysis of bridges and related civil structures.
- Perform complex structural calculations using finite element analysis (FEA) software and other relevant tools.
- Develop detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction documents in compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., AASHTO, Eurocodes).
- Review shop drawings and submittals from contractors to ensure compliance with design intent.
- Conduct site investigations and provide technical support during the construction phase, including addressing design queries and resolving site issues.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, architects, geotechnical engineers, and construction teams.
- Mentor and guide junior structural engineers, providing technical oversight and professional development support.
- Perform structural integrity assessments and provide recommendations for rehabilitation or retrofitting of existing bridges.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in structural engineering, materials, and construction technologies.
