Our client seeks a highly experienced Senior Civil Structural Engineer to lead the design and analysis of complex structural projects. This role requires a deep understanding of structural principles, building codes, and advanced engineering software. You will be responsible for overseeing project lifecycles from conception and design through to construction support, ensuring safety, compliance, and structural integrity. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of managing project teams and client relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering. A Master's degree is highly desirable. A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural design and analysis is required. Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent registration is essential. Proven experience with structural analysis software and a thorough understanding of material science and construction methods are necessary. Excellent leadership, project management, and interpersonal skills are a must. This position is based in Mombasa, Mombasa, KE and offers a hybrid work model.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the structural design and analysis of a variety of civil engineering projects, including buildings, bridges, and infrastructure.
- Performing complex structural calculations and modeling using state-of-the-art engineering software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD).
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant local and international building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Preparing detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Providing technical guidance and support to junior engineers and design staff.
- Collaborating with architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Conducting site visits for construction support, inspections, and problem-solving during the construction phase.
- Reviewing shop drawings and submittals from contractors.
- Developing project proposals and contributing to bid processes.
- Staying current with advancements in structural engineering technology and methodologies.
