Our client, a leading automotive services provider, is looking for a highly skilled Senior Automotive Diagnostic Technician to join their innovative remote support team. This position is entirely remote, focused on providing expert diagnostic consultation and technical guidance to on-site technicians across various locations. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of modern vehicle systems, advanced diagnostic tools, and a proven ability to interpret complex diagnostic data. You will act as a critical resource for troubleshooting challenging vehicle issues, offering remote guidance and support to ensure efficient and accurate repairs. This role requires excellent analytical skills, clear communication, and the ability to meticulously document diagnostic findings and recommendations. Responsibilities:
- Provide remote expert-level diagnostic assistance for complex automotive issues across a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
- Analyze diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), live data streams, and other diagnostic information provided by field technicians.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical service bulletins to guide repair processes.
- Consult with dealership and independent repair shop technicians to troubleshoot and resolve vehicle malfunctions.
- Maintain detailed records of diagnostic consultations, findings, and recommended solutions.
- Stay current with the latest automotive technologies, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques.
- Develop and share best practices for automotive diagnostics and repair procedures.
- Contribute to the knowledge base by documenting common issues and their resolutions.
- Collaborate with engineering and technical support teams to escalate persistent issues.
- Provide training and mentorship to less experienced diagnostic technicians remotely.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience as an Automotive Technician, with a strong focus on diagnostics.
- ASE certifications (Advanced Engine Performance Specialist - L1 and above highly preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of automotive electrical systems, engine management, and electronic control units (ECUs).
- Proficiency with advanced diagnostic scan tools (e.g., Snap-on, Autel, Verus) and oscilloscope usage.
- Proven ability to interpret complex technical information and communicate it clearly.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote consultation.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively in a remote environment.
- Experience with hybrid and electric vehicle systems is a significant advantage.
- A technical degree or extensive vocational training in automotive technology is required.
