Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and validation of complex mechanical components and systems for automotive applications, from concept to production.
- Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, Siemens NX) for 3D modeling, drafting, and assembly design.
- Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to optimize designs for performance, durability, and manufacturability.
- Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes, considering cost, performance, and production feasibility.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing engineers, in a remote setting.
- Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, Bill of Materials (BOM), and manufacturing instructions.
- Troubleshoot design issues and implement solutions throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in automotive mechanical design.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.
- Ensure designs meet all relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company quality objectives.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mechanical design engineering, with a significant focus on the automotive industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in 3D CAD modeling, parametric design, and surfacing techniques.
- Proficiency with FEA and CFD simulation software.
- Strong knowledge of material selection, manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, machining, stamping), and DFM/DFA principles.
- Excellent understanding of automotive systems and components.
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for remote team success.
- Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and other automotive quality systems is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
