Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Chemical Process Engineer to join their innovative, fully remote R&D division. This role is crucial for the development and optimization of advanced chemical processes. You will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving chemical manufacturing processes, ensuring safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of chemical reactions, separation techniques, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics. Your work will involve scaling up laboratory processes to pilot and commercial levels, troubleshooting operational issues, and implementing process improvements.
This is a remote-first position, requiring strong self-management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a geographically dispersed team. You will utilize process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS), P&ID development tools, and statistical analysis methods. Responsibilities include conducting feasibility studies, developing process flow diagrams, specifying equipment, and writing technical reports. You will also play a key role in HAZOP studies and ensuring that all designs meet stringent safety and regulatory requirements.

- Specify and select process equipment such as reactors, heat exchangers, and distillation columns.
- Develop Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and equipment specifications.
- Monitor process performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with research scientists and production teams to ensure successful implementation.
- Prepare technical reports, economic evaluations, and project proposals.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in chemical process design and development.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, etc.).
- Solid understanding of unit operations, thermodynamics, and reaction kinetics.
- Experience with HAZOP studies and process safety management (PSM).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a remote setting.
