This remote leadership position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively engage with a distributed research team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and implement bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of large-scale biological datasets (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics).
  • Perform complex data analysis, including variant calling, gene expression analysis, and pathway enrichment.
  • Apply statistical methods and machine learning techniques to biological data to identify patterns and insights.
  • Collaborate with experimental scientists to interpret results and guide future research directions.
  • Develop and maintain computational tools and databases for data management and analysis.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in bioinformatics, computational biology, and relevant biological fields.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.
  • Mentor and guide junior bioinformaticians and research staff.
  • Contribute to grant writing and funding proposals.
  • Ensure the reproducibility and robustness of computational analyses.

Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in bioinformatics or computational biology.
  • Extensive experience with NGS data analysis and associated software tools (e.g., STAR, GATK, Samtools).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and Bash.
  • Strong understanding of statistical genetics, genomics, and molecular biology.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques applied to biological data.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to manage research projects and lead scientific discussions.
  • Strong publication record and experience presenting scientific findings.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, essential for a remote work environment.
