This role is entirely remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within Kenya. You will be responsible for developing and implementing cost-effective purchasing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely acquisition of high-quality raw materials, components, and services. This position requires a deep understanding of global supply chain dynamics, negotiation expertise, and a proven ability to optimize procurement processes to support the company's growth objectives. You will lead a remote team, driving efficiency and strategic sourcing across diverse categories.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic global sourcing and procurement plans to meet company objectives and cost targets.
- Identify, evaluate, and select key suppliers, negotiating contracts, terms, and pricing to achieve best value.
- Manage and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with a diverse base of global suppliers.
- Monitor market trends, commodity prices, and supply chain risks, proactively implementing mitigation strategies.
- Oversee the purchasing process, from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services.
- Implement and champion best practices in procurement, including e-procurement tools and category management.
- Lead and mentor a remote team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of performance and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Operations, R&D, Finance) to understand requirements and ensure alignment of procurement activities.
- Drive initiatives for cost savings, quality improvements, and supply chain optimization.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful global sourcing strategies.
- Extensive experience in contract negotiation, supplier management, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of global supply chain operations and logistics.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a remote team effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage complex projects in a remote setting.
