Position Summary

This newly created Institutional Giving fundraising position will lead AWF's government, foundations and corporate fundraising teams. The Vice President, Institutional Giving is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing strategies to secure funding from government, foundations and corporate entities to deliver on AWF's mission and vision. The position leads teams dedicated to each of these market segments and reports into the Chief Business Operations Officer, who oversees the business operations of AWF including fundraising, finance and administration, and people and culture functions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Planning

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow institutional funding and meet annual and 3-year fundraising goals.

Team Leadership and Management

  • Build best-in-sector teams for AWF to be the 'go to' partner for key institutional donors.
  • Lead, manage and mentor AWF's teams of institutional giving professionals, supporting their professional development, driving compliance with the Account Management Framework and Business Plan, and empowering excellence in performance.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive culture within the institutional giving team and between the institutional giving team and other teams across AWF.

Proposal and Grant Management

  • Oversee the preparation and submission of technical and cost proposals, reports, and supporting materials for institutional funders.
  • Ensure the institutional giving team contributes as outlined in the Account Management Framework and Project Management Guidelines to deliver best-in-class grants management including compliance, accounting, and stewardship of grant-funded projects.
  • Monitor grant progress and reporting requirements to ensure timely and accurate fulfilment of obligations.

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with program staff to develop a deep understanding of organisational initiatives and articulate compelling cases for support to funders.
  • Support the CBOO, Chief of Staff, and Chief Executive Officer as needed on institutional fundraising matters.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of institutional giving activities in the Balanced Scorecard, Board Dashboards and donor databases.
  • Analyse data to inform strategy and report on progress to the CBOO.

Qualifications

  • At least 15 years experience in institutional fundraising, including government, foundations and corporate partnerships.
  • Knowledge of African conservation issues is a strong advantage.
  • Proven track record of raising funds from institutional funders at seven and eight figure levels, especially foundation and government funders.
  • Experience leading an institutional giving department generating at least $30 million annually and sustaining a diversified pipeline of opportunities of at least $200 million.
  • Proven leadership and management abilities, with experience supervising and developing staff in a cross-cultural context.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Advisory to the President

Qualifications and Experience

Required

·
15+ years of experience in the social or environmental sectors, with at least
10 years at senior leadership level and demonstrable experience in operational management and both philanthropic fundraising and revenue generation through social enterprise business models.

·   Proven experience in cross-functional leadership, revenue strategy, and organisational development and compliance.

·   Demonstrated ability to work with executive leadership, funders, and high-level partners.

Desired

·   Good understanding of the nature conservation and restoration sector as well as nature-based markets and their evolution at the African and global level.

·   Strong knowledge of Kenyan legal and compliance frameworks, with working knowledge of US and South African regulatory environments.

The Role:

The VP of Energy will own the full lifecycle of Zeno's energy infrastructure and product portfolio—including site development, hardware evolution, cost optimization, preventive maintenance, and asset ROI. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams across Kenya, India, and North America to deploy and operate a high-performing, reliable, and profitable energy network that enables vehicle growth and supports commercial success.

What You'll Do

Infrastructure Strategy & Deployment

  • Oversee strategic rollout of multi-modal charging infrastructure (swap stations, fast chargers, and home chargers) across all target markets.

Our client, a leading global enterprise in its sector, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President of Business Development to join our executive leadership team. This is a fully remote position, enabling you to spearhead our growth initiatives from anywhere in the world. You will be responsible for identifying and cultivating new market opportunities, forging strategic partnerships, and driving revenue growth on a global scale. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in business development, strategic partnerships, and sales leadership within a high-growth environment, coupled with exceptional negotiation and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to achieve revenue and market share objectives.
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new strategic partnership and alliance opportunities.
  • Lead negotiations for complex deals and contracts, ensuring favorable terms for the company.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and industry influencers.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities to inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and product teams to ensure alignment and drive go-to-market strategies.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, events, and in high-level meetings.
  • Manage and mentor a team of business development professionals.
  • Develop and manage the business development budget.
  • Report on business development activities, pipeline, and key metrics to the executive team.
