This senior role will focus on the conceptualization, design, and optimization of chemical processes and plant layouts. You will be responsible for leading the development of process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and process simulations. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in chemical engineering principles, reaction kinetics, mass transfer, and thermodynamics, with a strong track record in designing complex chemical facilities. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and control engineers, as well as project managers, to deliver state-of-the-art solutions. This position requires exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS), and a thorough understanding of process safety management (PSM) principles. You will be instrumental in evaluating new technologies, identifying opportunities for process intensification, and ensuring the economic viability and environmental sustainability of proposed designs. This is a fully remote position, requiring excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively engage with colleagues across different time zones. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our client's chemical manufacturing capabilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of chemical processes and plant layouts.
  • Develop PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and process narratives.
  • Conduct rigorous process simulations and feasibility studies.
  • Perform heat and mass balance calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with process safety management (PSM) standards and regulations.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies for process improvement.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project managers.
  • Optimize existing processes for efficiency, yield, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in process engineering, with a focus on chemical plant design.
  • Extensive experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS, ChemCAD).
  • Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
  • Proven expertise in process safety, HAZOP studies, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex engineering projects.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, essential for remote work.
  • Experience in process optimization and debottlenecking.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification is highly desirable.
