Role Description
- Draft, negotiate, and review corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with industrial and commercial clients.
- Ensure all agreements provide robust legal protections for Compass Energy, including risk allocation, performance obligations, and bankability.
- Manage regulatory compliance and approvals with the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) and other Kenyan authorities.
- Oversee and negotiate EPC contracts, O&M agreements, and vendor contracts to protect Compass Energy's interests.
- Provide strategic legal support on permitting, licensing, and applications critical to project development.
- Liaise with financiers, advisors, and regulators to ensure compliance with project finance and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer with 3–10 years' PQE in energy, infrastructure, or project finance law.
- Deep knowledge of Kenya's regulatory framework and experience working with EPRA.
- Track record in negotiating corporate PPAs and large-scale EPC/vendor contracts.
- Strong commercial acumen, balancing risk management with Compass's growth objectives.
- Experience working with industrial or commercial clients in the energy sector is a plus.
