B2B Solar Energy & Offtake Lead
Nairobi-Based | Freelance | High-Trust Sales | Pilot-Stage Wheeled Solar Project
We're launching a pilot-stage wheeled solar farm (0.3 MW) from the coast to Nairobi — and we're looking for a Nairobi-based commercial closer to help validate demand and shape the future of solar wheeling in Kenya.
This is a rare opportunity to work directly with a pilot-stage infrastructure project, originate real commercial traction, and unlock long-term project finance. You'll be the face of the project to C&I clients, navigating energy procurement conversations with clarity, trust, and speed.
Phase 1 (Immediate Mission)
- Secure 3+ LOIs totaling 3 MWh/day of daytime demand
- Build trust with facility managers, ops directors, and procurement leads
- Position CAPEX-free energy models with clarity and confidence
- Navigate KPLC zones, industrial parks, and PPA terms with ease
Phase 2 (Post-Pilot, ~9+ Months - TO BE DISCUSSED AFTER PHASE 1)
- Convert LOIs into signed PPAs once the pilot is live
- Stay engaged through the full sales cycle — from origination to execution
- Help shape the commercial roadmap for future wheeled solar deployments
Ideal Profile
- Based in Nairobi, with deep local networks
- Proven B2B sales experience in energy (solar C&I is a major plus)
- Connected to large C&I clients (e.g. Naivas, Brookside, Bidco)
- Fluent in English, with a professional tone and high-trust sales style
- Has walked deals from lead to signed PPA
Skills & Capabilities
- B2B Energy Sales (especially solar C&I)
- Lead Origination & Qualification
- LOI & PPA Negotiation
- High-Trust Relationship Building
- Solution Selling & Consultative Sales
- Sales Pipeline Management (CRM fluency)
- Proposal Writing & Pitch Deck Crafting
- Understanding of Wheeled Solar Models
- Familiarity with KPLC Zones & Grid Dynamics
- Knowledge of CAPEX-Free Energy Structures
- Basic Energy Modeling (MWh/day, load profiles)
- PPA Structuring & Risk Awareness
- Stakeholder Engagement & Investor Readiness
- Sales Cycle Ownership (Origination → Execution)
Compensation
- GTM consulting budget: $150–$00 for pitch, deck, CRM setup
- LOI origination: 100 upfront + 500 milestone payout (split across 3 LOIs)
- Long-term potential: performance-based bonuses + future BD leadership
This role is ideal for someone who knows how to build trust fast, navigate energy procurement conversations with confidence, and close deals that unlock infrastructure. You'll have full autonomy, direct access to the founding team, and a chance to shape Kenya's solar wheeling future from the ground up.
