The Communications Analyst will work with scientists and other communication team members to develop communications products around the Alliance’s work in all countries across Africa.Key duties & responsibilities
Support the development of communications content and materials that can take the form of compelling narratives, case studies, multimedia graphics, newsletters etc. for publication to a range of audiences.Support with compiling best practices, lessons, and synthesizing knowledge management resources ·Format reports, presentations and other technical documents including editing, design, and layout.Sharing materials and information across Alliance internal collaboration spaces and communication channels.Support in conducting research and collecting data as requested.Organization and production of small events and internal webinar discussions.Creative photography and videography skills to tell the Alliance story in the region.Facilitate the organization of, and participation in, key knowledge-sharing events such as workshops, conferences and exhibits.Develop and maintain strategic media relations at the regional and national levels to ensure visibility for the Alliance’s work.Working closely with the country leads to implementing the regional strategy.Perform any other substantive and/or administrative task that might be required.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in communications, or related fields. Excellent skills in photography and videographyExcellent verbal and written communication skills .Prior experience working in an international organization, and in multiple time zones.Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team with people in a multi-cultural and multidisciplinary environment, including with external stakeholders, and excellent interpersonal skills.Experience and ability to translate complex science into widely compelling and targeted communications stories.Able and willing to travel.Terms of employment
This position is a nationally recruited position based in Nairobi, Kenya. The initial contract will be for two (2) years subject to a probation period of three (3) months and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.This position is graded at BG06 , level, with a basic salary of 168,837.00 Kenya Shillings in a scale of BG01 to BG14 (BG14 being the highest level according to the Alliance job classification framework policy). Position: Integrated Communications Specialist
Reporting to: Public Relations Manager

Purpose of the Position: This is a position within the Public Relations & Corporate Affairs team with a dotted line to the marketing team where you are required to support the Public Relations Manager and related teams with traditional PR and digital content production, implementation and monitoring to increase brand awareness and improve integrated communication efforts.You will be part of a team of highly motivated, passionate individuals and will be expected to deliver to P&L impacting KPIs. You will be involved in supporting and facilitating PR campaign planning for traditional communications, digital platforms, development, and implementation within the market. The ideal candidate should be skilled in collaborative work and be able to effectively engage with the Marketing and Public Relations teams in the corporate office. This includes the ability to strategize, plan, implement, and report on campaigns and always-on projects that are closely aligned with the business objectives.The role also involves collaboration with the Public Relations team to support and coordinate efforts. The candidate should be able to facilitate synergistic initiatives as needed. This may include sharing information, resources, or insights to ensure a cohesive approach to achieving corporate goals. Coordination of media & PR agencies/houses and influencer partnerships are within your sphere and influence and supported by you. Key Performance Objectives • Improvement in content engagement, measured by time social media engagement.• Increase in content discovery, measured by traditional PR and relevant digital channels.• Monitor and improve online & digital content engagement and share of voice against competitors.• Coverage of content publicity (mentions and reach) on owned and earned digital platforms• Maintain positive feedback from media outlets and journalists.• Media & digital coverage publicity on earned media and digital platforms.• Monthly media coverage reports• Improvement in content engagement, measured by time social media engagement.• Extensive Collaboration with Digital, Content, Brand and On-air Teams.• Innovative, Tactical thinking and approach for effective and impactful media usage (PR, BTL, Social)• Standardised publishing plan and schedule across owned and earned digital platforms. Tasks • Plan, create and format engaging content to drive content discovery across traditional PR and digital channels – LinkedIn.• Develop a deep understanding of the target market and create relatable content for digital channels – listicles.• Utilize digital tools – Meltwater to measure brand engagement across both traditional PR and digital platforms.• Implement the full spectrum of communication tactics including pitching to news/sports/entertainment media, writing press releases, opinion editorials, coordinating press conferences, arranging editorial boards, coordinating special events, preparing editorial collateral materials, organizing media meet and greets and supporting internal communications in the business.• Provide regular reports on media coverage, content performance and audience engagement.• Support and enhance communications initiatives to improve PR efforts.• Build and sustain strong working relationship with customer facing colleagues.• Enhance awareness of our brands through new and emerging media (digital, online, social) and media relations.• Generate and oversee SEO and digital-first written material regarding our channels and products.• Implement communications activities.• Measure the success of organic digital PR through reports using analytics tools.• Coordinate flow of information and communication from traditional format to digital.• Perform website content updates and write news and blog posts designed to drive traffic, promote engagement, and support company objectives.• Maintain multi-platform distribution listsRequirements Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Digital Marketing• A member of Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) Experience • Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in Public Relations and or Digital Communications• Previous experience in working in a communications/PR agency/media house.• Proof of being published by leading media houses – TV/Print media.• Experience working in the broadcasting space would be advantageous.• Understanding of Communications trends• Ability to closely monitor timelines/deadlines Technical Competencies • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.• Digital Marketing communication skills (HTML, Content management systems, SEO)• Effectively read, write, edit, and proofread in English.• Work collaboratively to communicate with team members from diverse cultures and backgrounds.• Work in a high‐volume, fast‐paced environment and meet deadlines.• Be attentive to detail, learn new things quickly. • Remain abreast of emerging and changing Communication technologies and trends.• Be creative in both problem‐solving and idea‐generation. • Discern the essential from the non‐essential.• Visual design (graphic design and animations) and audio design for digital platforms advantageous Behavioral Competencies • Accountability• Teamwork• Agility• Delegation• Interpersonal Support• Perseverance• Motivating• Prioritisation• Analytical Thinking• Willingness to learnBe The First To Know
