Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Agronomist & Crop Production Specialist to join their expanding, fully remote agricultural division. This role is dedicated to advancing sustainable and efficient farming practices, optimizing crop yields, and providing expert technical guidance to agricultural stakeholders. You will play a key role in research, development, and implementation of best practices in crop management, soil health, and pest/disease control. This is a remote-first position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within Kenya, collaborating with farmers, researchers, and agribusiness partners. Your knowledge will be instrumental in enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability.
Key responsibilities include:
The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, or a related field. A minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in agronomy, crop production, and agricultural extension services is required. Proven experience in soil science, plant pathology, entomology, and sustainable agriculture practices is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide practical solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and advise diverse groups of stakeholders. Experience with GIS and remote sensing technologies for agricultural monitoring is a plus. The ability to work independently, manage multiple projects remotely, and travel occasionally for field assessments as needed is crucial.
