We're past the idea phase and moving into development, with early user interest and investor conversations already underway.
The Role:
We're seeking a visionary CTO to lead our technology roadmap and guide Dhahab Link from prototype to launch. This is a unique chance to shape the architecture, security, and scalability of a fintech product designed to redefine how people interact with gold and money.
Responsibilities:
- Architect and oversee development of the Dhahab Link wallet (backend + mobile app).
- Integrate with payment rails (e.g., Mpesa, banks) and vault/storage partners.
- Ensure top-tier security, compliance, and scalability from day one.
- Recruit and guide a small but strong tech team (or manage external dev shop).
- Work closely with the founder on product vision and investor discussions.
Requirements:
- Strong background in fintech, payments, or secure platforms.
- Proven experience in system architecture, API integrations, and mobile-first solutions.
- Understanding of compliance/KYC/AML in finance is a major plus.
- Leadership mindset — comfortable in a co-founder environment.

What You'll Do (Roles & Responsibilities)
As CTO and co-founder, you'll own AfriFlip's technical vision and execution. Key responsibilities include:
Platform Development & Architecture
Design and build a secure, scalable digital marketplace with fintech-grade reliability.
- Integrate local payment systems (e.g., M-Pesa, Flutterwave, Airtel Money) and escrow services.
Develop tools for business verification, automated valuations, and due diligence to establish trust in transactions.
Trust, Security & Compliance
Implement bank-level data protection and transaction security (multi-factor authentication, encryption, fraud detection).
- Build in-house or partner-based escrow solutions to ensure smooth and safe transfers.
Ensure compliance with local regulations across markets (Kenya, Nigeria, West Africa).
Product Leadership & Innovation
Translate AfriFlip's vision into a user-friendly, culturally attuned product experience.
- Drive product strategy from MVP launch in Kenya to scale across Africa.
Develop premium features (e.g., featured listings, advanced escrow, valuation calculators).
Technical Team & Culture
Recruit, mentor, and lead a lean, high-performing tech team.
- Champion an engineering culture rooted in trust, innovation, and community impact.
Collaborate closely with the business team on go-to-market execution.
Growth & Scale
Leverage technology to build strong network effects (quality listings + engaged buyers).
- Explore AI/automation for business vetting and transaction support.

Who You Are (Ideal Candidate)
- A full-stack engineer/architect with marketplace, fintech, or SaaS experience.
- Proven ability to build secure, scalable platforms from scratch.

- Experience with escrow/payment integration, compliance, or B2B marketplaces a big plus.
