Job Purpose:
The Credit Officer is responsible for evaluating loan applications, assessing creditworthiness, and ensuring sound credit decisions that minimize risk and support business growth. The officer also monitors loan performance and maintains strong relationships with clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive and review loan applications to determine eligibility and repayment capacity.
Conduct credit appraisals, background checks, and financial analyses of applicants.
Prepare credit reports and recommendations for approval.
Monitor loan repayments and follow up on overdue accounts.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client and loan records.
Provide financial advice to clients and promote responsible borrowing.
Ensure compliance with company policies and credit regulations.
Prepare periodic reports on loan performance and portfolio quality.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Economics, or a related field.
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in credit analysis, lending, or financial services.
Knowledge of credit management principles and risk assessment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial software.
Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
