Our client, a reputable insurance provider, is seeking a seasoned Senior Underwriter to join their expanding remote team. This position is fully remote, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating, accepting, and pricing insurance risks. This role requires a deep understanding of insurance principles, risk assessment, and a keen eye for detail to ensure profitable underwriting decisions within the Machakos area and beyond.

- Collaborate with the claims department to provide input on policy interpretation and complex claims issues.
- Stay informed about market trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities in the insurance industry.
- Assist in the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines and procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters.
- Analyze loss experience data to identify trends and inform underwriting strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant insurance regulations and company policies.
- Contribute to the development of new insurance products and services.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in insurance underwriting, with a focus on general insurance lines.
- Proven track record of sound underwriting judgment and profitability.
- In-depth knowledge of various insurance products, policy wordings, and underwriting principles.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret financial statements and risk data.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and relevant IT systems.
- Ability to work independently, manage a diverse workload, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
- Professional designations such as ACII or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of the Kenyan insurance market and regulatory environment.
