You will be responsible for analyzing existing production processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing innovative solutions to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality and safety. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering principles, process simulation, and data analysis, coupled with extensive experience in a manufacturing environment. You will collaborate with plant operations, R&D, and management teams to drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and evaluate existing chemical manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for optimization.
  • Develop and implement process improvements that enhance yield, reduce waste, and improve energy efficiency.
  • Design and scale-up new chemical processes, ensuring safety, reliability, and economic viability.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and pilot plant trials for process modifications and new technologies.
  • Utilize process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) to model and optimize process performance.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions to maintain operational continuity.
  • Ensure all processes comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality management systems.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to transition new products and processes from lab to commercial scale.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to plant operations and maintenance teams.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in process improvement initiatives, utilizing Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Analyze production data to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify trends.
  • Contribute to the development of capital expenditure proposals for process equipment and upgrades.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and industry best practices in chemical engineering and manufacturing.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in process engineering within the chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Proven experience in process design, optimization, scale-up, and troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in process simulation software and thermodynamic principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety protocols (e.g., HAZOP) and environmental regulations in chemical manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills, effective in remote collaboration.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in project management and managing technical teams.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects in a remote setting.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation and control systems is a plus.
