We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Grant Writer and Development Manager to lead our fundraising efforts. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in Kenya and connect with a global network of potential donors and foundations. You will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, crafting compelling grant proposals, and cultivating relationships to secure the financial resources necessary to advance our mission. Responsibilities:
- Identify and research potential funding sources, including government grants, private foundations, corporate sponsorships, and individual donors.
- Develop and write persuasive, high-quality grant proposals, reports, and funding appeals.
- Clearly articulate the organization's mission, programs, and impact to potential funders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with grant-making organizations, foundations, and key stakeholders.
- Manage the entire grant lifecycle, from identification and application to reporting and stewardship.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet annual financial goals.
- Organize and coordinate fundraising events and campaigns.
- Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information and data for proposals.
- Ensure all grant applications and reports are submitted accurately and on time, adhering to funder guidelines.
- Track grant expenditures and provide timely financial reports to funders.
- Develop and manage a donor database and stewardship plan.
- Stay informed about trends in philanthropy and the non-profit sector.
- Prepare presentations and materials for donor engagement.
- Mentor and potentially supervise junior development staff or volunteers.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Non-profit Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of successful experience in grant writing and fundraising for non-profit organizations.
- Proven track record of securing significant funding from diverse sources.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong research and analytical abilities to identify suitable funding opportunities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with funders and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using grant databases and fundraising software.
- Experience in developing and implementing strategic fundraising plans.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work independently in a remote setting.
- Understanding of non-profit operations and financial management.
