Responsibilities:
As a Senior Geological Surveyor, you will be responsible for planning and executing detailed geological surveys, analyzing rock and soil samples, and interpreting complex data sets to map subsurface formations. Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, and conduct geological surveys and explorations to identify potential mineral deposits.
- Analyze geological data, including core samples, geophysical logs, and remote sensing information, to understand subsurface structures and composition.
- Develop detailed geological models and maps to represent resource potential and geological hazards.
- Operate and maintain advanced surveying and geophysical equipment.
- Assess the economic viability of potential mining sites based on geological data and market conditions.
- Ensure all exploration and surveying activities comply with local and international environmental and safety regulations.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, including findings, recommendations, and cost estimations for exploration projects.
- Collaborate with mining engineers and other geoscientists to optimize extraction strategies.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in geological surveying technology, methodologies, and software.
- Mentor junior geologists and surveyors, providing technical guidance and professional development.
- Conduct site visits and field assessments when necessary, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Master's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field. A PhD is advantageous.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in geological surveying, mineral exploration, or mining operations.
- Extensive experience with geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, ArcGIS, Surpac) and geophysical interpretation tools.
- Proven ability to conduct fieldwork in challenging environments and manage remote exploration teams.
- Strong understanding of mineral economics and resource estimation techniques (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional report writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team, demonstrating strong communication skills.
- Valid professional geologist or surveyor license (or eligibility for one).
