This is a fully remote position, allowing you to provide critical legal support to the business operations, including those relevant to Machakos, Machakos, KE , from the convenience of your home office. You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, advising on legal risks, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of corporate law, excellent drafting skills, and the ability to provide pragmatic legal advice in a fast-paced environment.

- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, service agreements, partnership agreements, licensing agreements, and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
- Provide legal advice and guidance to internal business units on contractual matters, risk assessment, and dispute resolution.
- Ensure all contracts are legally sound, compliant with company policies, and mitigate potential risks.
- Manage and maintain the company's contract management system.
- Conduct legal research on relevant corporate and commercial law issues.
- Assist in the development and implementation of standardized contract templates and legal processes.
- Liaise with external counsel when necessary for specialized legal advice or representation.
- Support the legal department on various corporate governance matters.
- Stay updated on changes in relevant laws and regulations that may impact the business.
- Advise on intellectual property matters related to contracts.
- Handle regulatory compliance issues related to commercial operations.
- Participate in M&A activities as needed, particularly regarding contract due diligence.
- Provide training to business teams on legal and contract matters.
Qualifications:
- Law degree (LL.B. or equivalent) from a reputable institution and admission to the Bar in Kenya or a recognized jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience practicing corporate and commercial law, with a significant focus on contract drafting and negotiation.
- Extensive experience with various types of commercial agreements.
- In-depth knowledge of Kenyan contract law and corporate governance principles.
- Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a remote setting.
- Experience in a corporate legal department or a leading law firm is required.
- Ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
- Familiarity with the legal and business environment in Machakos County is advantageous.
- Proficiency in legal research databases and contract management software.
