This is a critical role focused on analyzing large-scale genomic and transcriptomic data to drive groundbreaking discoveries. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in computational biology, extensive experience with various sequencing technologies, and a proven ability to develop and implement robust bioinformatics pipelines. You will be instrumental in deciphering complex biological questions, developing predictive models, and contributing to the publication of high-impact research. This position is based in **Ongata Rongai, Kajiado, KE**, but is a fully remote role, allowing you to contribute to world-class research from your dedicated home office.

- Design, develop, and implement bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, including whole-genome, exome, and RNA-seq.
- Perform complex data analysis, interpretation, and visualization of genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic datasets.
- Develop and apply statistical and machine learning methods to identify patterns, biomarkers, and molecular mechanisms underlying diseases or biological processes.
- Collaborate closely with molecular biologists, geneticists, and clinicians to define research questions and design experiments.
- Contribute to the interpretation of research findings and their potential clinical implications.
- Develop and maintain databases for storing and managing large biological datasets.
- Write clear and concise technical documentation, reports, and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Present research findings at scientific conferences and internal meetings.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in bioinformatics, genomics, and relevant computational tools.
- Mentor junior bioinformaticians and contribute to the overall scientific strategy of the research group.
- Ensure the reproducibility and scalability of bioinformatics analyses.

- Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of post-doctoral or industry experience in bioinformatics, with a strong focus on genomics and transcriptomics.
- Expertise in analyzing NGS data from platforms such as Illumina, PacBio, or Oxford Nanopore.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python and R, and their relevant libraries (e.g., Biopython, SciPy, NumPy, ggplot2).
- Extensive experience with bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., BLAST, GATK, Ensembl, UCSC Genome Browser).
- Strong understanding of statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and experimental design.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of publications.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote research environment.
- Experience with variant calling, differential gene expression analysis, and pathway analysis.
- Knowledge of single-cell RNA sequencing analysis is highly desirable.
