This role is critical for driving innovation in agricultural practices through the strategic application of technology and data analysis. You will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced agronomic strategies, advising farmers and agricultural businesses on optimizing crop yields, resource management, and sustainability. The position requires a deep understanding of soil science, crop physiology, data analytics, and precision farming techniques. You will work closely with clients and field teams through remote consultations, data platforms, and virtual meetings. The successful candidate will be passionate about leveraging technology to solve agricultural challenges and enhance food production. Your expertise will guide clients in adopting best practices for efficient and environmentally sound farming.

- Analyze soil data, weather patterns, and crop health information to provide data-driven recommendations for planting, fertilization, irrigation, and pest management.
- Advise clients on best practices for sustainable agriculture, soil conservation, and water resource management.
- Conduct virtual field assessments and diagnostics using client-provided data and imagery.
- Train and support farmers and agricultural professionals in the use of precision agriculture tools and software.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in agronomy, crop science, and agricultural technology.
- Collaborate with research institutions and technology providers to pilot and evaluate new solutions.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on agronomic strategies, yield forecasts, and return on investment for clients.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in agricultural practices among remote stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related agricultural field. A PhD is an advantage.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in agronomy, with a significant focus on precision agriculture and data analysis.
- Extensive knowledge of crop physiology, soil fertility, pest and disease management.
- Proven experience with GIS, remote sensing, and data management software relevant to agriculture.
- Strong understanding of variable rate technology (VRT) and farm management information systems (FMIS).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, comfortable delivering advice and training remotely.
- Experience in client management and relationship building.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote setting.
- Knowledge of Kenyan agricultural landscape and crop production systems is a plus.
