Job Description
The ideal candidate will have a profound understanding of automotive electrical systems, CAN bus communication, diagnostic protocols (e.g., UDS, OBD-II), and embedded software. You will be responsible for creating detailed diagnostic procedures, developing test scripts, and analyzing diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) to identify root causes of failures. Collaboration with hardware engineers, software developers, and field technicians will be a significant part of the role, requiring excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You will utilize advanced diagnostic tools and simulation environments to replicate and test potential issues. A passion for automotive technology, a meticulous approach to detail, and the ability to manage your workload effectively in a remote setting are essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and validating diagnostic software for automotive electronic control units (ECUs).
- Analyzing vehicle diagnostic data (e.g., CAN logs, DTCs) to identify root causes of failures.
- Creating detailed diagnostic procedures and test plans for various vehicle systems.
- Utilizing diagnostic tools and simulation software to replicate and troubleshoot issues.
- Collaborating with hardware and software development teams to resolve technical problems.
- Providing remote technical support to manufacturing and after-sales service teams.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest automotive diagnostic technologies and industry standards.
- Documenting diagnostic findings, solutions, and improvements.
- Contributing to the overall design and reliability of vehicle electronic systems.
- Participating in cross-functional team meetings and contributing to product development cycles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in automotive diagnostics or embedded systems engineering.
- Strong knowledge of automotive electrical architectures, ECUs, and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
- Proficiency in diagnostic standards like OBD-II and UDS.
- Experience with diagnostic tools (e.g., Vector CANoe/CANalyzer, ETAS INCA) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, CAPL).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively in a remote environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Familiarity with automotive software development lifecycle is a plus.
