Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute computational biology projects, focusing on the analysis of genomic, proteomic, transcriptomic, and other high-throughput biological data.
- Develop, implement, and validate sophisticated computational algorithms and statistical models for biological data analysis.
- Design and manage bioinformatics pipelines for data processing, quality control, and interpretation.
- Collaborate closely with experimental biologists, clinicians, and other data scientists to translate research questions into computational analyses and interpret results.
- Identify and implement novel computational approaches to address complex biological problems.
- Present research findings at internal meetings and external scientific conferences.
- Mentor junior computational scientists and contribute to the growth of the team's scientific capabilities.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in genomics, bioinformatics, machine learning, and relevant biological fields.
- Contribute to the development of grant proposals and scientific publications.
- Ensure the reproducibility and documentation of all computational analyses.
- Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant postdoctoral and/or industry research experience.
- Demonstrated track record of scientific achievement, evidenced by publications in high-impact journals and presentations at leading conferences.
- Expertise in analyzing large-scale biological datasets (e.g., next-generation sequencing data).
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Perl, and experience with bioinformatics tools and databases.
- Proficiency in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization techniques.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and containerization (e.g., Docker) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.
- Experience leading research projects and mentoring scientific staff.
