Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Principal Mechanical Engineer with specialized expertise in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems design to join their fully remote engineering team. This senior role will be responsible for leading the design and development of complex HVAC solutions for a diverse range of projects, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort. You will play a key role in conceptualizing designs, conducting detailed engineering analyses, and overseeing the implementation of HVAC systems across various building types. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, psychrometrics, and building physics, coupled with extensive experience in HVAC system selection, sizing, and integration. Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of advanced HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings. Develop detailed design drawings, specifications, and control strategies using CAD and BIM software. Conduct energy modeling and analysis to optimize system performance and minimize energy consumption. Ensure compliance with building codes, energy standards, and environmental regulations. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff. Review and approve shop drawings and submittals. Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and project managers to ensure integrated design solutions. Conduct site visits for commissioning and troubleshooting, where necessary, or provide remote support. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in HVAC design and engineering. Extensive knowledge of HVAC system design principles, standards (e.g., ASHRAE), and best practices. Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., HAP, TRACE 700, Revit MEP). Experience with energy simulation tools and building performance analysis. Strong understanding of sustainable design principles and green building certifications (e.g., LEED). Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to lead projects and manage multiple tasks effectively in a remote environment. Experience with projects in regions like Kakamega , though not required, is a plus for understanding diverse environmental conditions.
