Our client is a leading entity in renewable energy development and is seeking an experienced Principal Geothermal Engineer to spearhead critical projects within their geothermal power division. This is a senior technical role requiring deep expertise in all facets of geothermal resource assessment, exploration, development, and power plant operations. You will be responsible for leading complex engineering projects, providing technical guidance, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective utilization of geothermal resources.
Key responsibilities include conducting feasibility studies, reservoir modeling, well design and drilling oversight, and geothermal plant engineering. You will develop and implement optimal strategies for resource management and production optimization. This role demands strong analytical skills, the ability to solve challenging engineering problems, and a thorough understanding of thermodynamic principles and fluid mechanics as applied to geothermal systems. You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with geoscientists and other discipline experts, and contribute to the company's R&D efforts. Experience with relevant software for reservoir simulation, wellbore design, and power plant performance analysis is essential. You will also be involved in project management, risk assessment, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and environmental regulations. This position requires on-site presence for project oversight and collaboration within the operational areas around Ongata Rongai, Kajiado, KE , and other project sites.
Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Geothermal Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in geothermal engineering. Proven expertise in geothermal resource assessment, drilling, and power plant design/operation. Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer. Experience with reservoir simulation software (e.g., TOUGH2, EGS) and wellbore design tools. Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills. Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent is highly desirable.
