Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of multi-spectral, hyperspectral, and radar satellite imagery for geological mapping and alteration detection.
- Integrate diverse geological datasets, including geophysical surveys (magnetics, gravity, electromagnetics), geochemical data, and drillhole information, using advanced GIS and modeling software.
- Develop and apply sophisticated algorithms and machine learning techniques for automated feature detection and predictive mineral prospectivity mapping.
- Generate detailed geological maps, cross-sections, and 3D models of subsurface structures and mineralization.
- Collaborate closely with geoscientists and exploration managers to define targets for ground-based follow-up.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management.
- Mentor and guide junior geologists and data scientists within the exploration team.
- Stay current with advancements in remote sensing technology, geological modeling, and data analytics relevant to mineral exploration.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of data management and analysis workflows.
- Manage external data providers and service contractors as required.
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on remote sensing and data analysis.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, with a significant focus on applying remote sensing techniques.
- Expert proficiency in remote sensing software (e.g., ENVI, ERDAS Imagine) and GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Advanced skills in programming languages relevant to data science and modeling (e.g., Python, R).
- Proven experience with machine learning frameworks and applications in geological data analysis.
- Demonstrated success in identifying economic mineral deposits through integrated data analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a remote, fast-paced environment.
- Experience with geological databases and 3D geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan) is highly desirable.
