Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Visual Arts Curator to join their dynamic team. This is a fully remote, impactful role where you will be instrumental in shaping and executing our digital and physical exhibition strategies. You will oversee the conceptualization, development, and execution of diverse art exhibitions, ensuring high artistic quality and broad audience engagement.

- Research, propose, and secure loan agreements for artworks from various institutions and private collections.
- Oversee the curatorial aspects of exhibition design, including layout, installation, and interpretive materials.
- Write compelling curatorial statements, catalogue essays, and other exhibition-related texts.
- Manage exhibition budgets, track expenses, and ensure projects are completed within financial parameters.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with artists, galleries, collectors, and other cultural stakeholders.
- Collaborate with marketing and education departments to develop promotional and public programming initiatives.
- Mentor and guide junior curatorial staff and interns.
- Stay abreast of current trends, scholarship, and emerging artists in the visual arts field.
- Manage the acquisition and deaccessioning processes for the collection, ensuring proper documentation and ethical standards are met.
- Organize and lead artist talks, panel discussions, and other public events.
- Oversee the care and preservation of artworks within the collection and on loan.
- Prepare grant proposals and reports for funding agencies related to exhibition projects.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and ethical guidelines pertaining to art curation and exhibition.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and long-term vision of the arts organization.
- Effectively manage digital exhibition components, including virtual tours and online content creation.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Ph.D. in Art History, Curatorial Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in curatorial roles within reputable arts organizations.
- Demonstrated success in developing and managing a wide range of exhibitions.
- Exceptional knowledge of art history and contemporary art practices.
- Proven ability to conduct scholarly research and produce high-quality written content.
- Experience with budget management and fundraising.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with the capacity to engage diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in museum collection management software and digital exhibition platforms.
- A strong network within the international art community is highly desirable.
