As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying sophisticated machine learning models and algorithms. Your work will involve data exploration, feature engineering, model selection, training, evaluation, and optimization. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to contribute your expertise from anywhere within Kenya. You will work closely with product managers, software engineers, and business analysts to understand requirements, define project scopes, and deliver impactful data science solutions. A significant focus will be on staying current with the latest advancements in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science methodologies, and applying them to solve real-world problems. You will also play a role in shaping the data strategy and infrastructure within the organization.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, along with a minimum of 7 years of experience in data science and machine learning. Proven experience in building and deploying production-ready ML models is essential. Expertise in programming languages such as Python or R, and proficiency with machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) are required. Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) are also highly beneficial. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are critical. Demonstrated ability to lead projects, mentor team members, and effectively communicate complex technical concepts are key requirements.
