Our client, a dynamic and forward-thinking construction and infrastructure development company, is seeking an experienced Lead Civil Engineering Project Manager to oversee critical projects. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to manage projects from anywhere. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of large-scale civil engineering projects, from conception and planning through to execution and handover. This includes ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage contractors, liaise with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and codes.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the planning, design, and execution of complex civil engineering projects.
  • Developing project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
  • Managing project scope, risks, and issues, and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Overseeing the work of engineering teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring compliance with all local, national, and international engineering standards and regulations.
  • Monitoring project progress, quality control, and site safety protocols.
  • Liaising with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and facilitate approvals.
  • Managing project finances, including tracking expenditures and approving invoices.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a Master's degree or PMP certification being highly advantageous. A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in civil engineering project management, with a significant focus on large infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, bridges, water systems), is required. Proven experience in managing budgets exceeding KSh 50 million is essential. Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills are paramount. Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and CAD software is necessary. A deep understanding of construction methodologies, contract management, and risk assessment is crucial. The ability to effectively manage remote teams and utilize advanced communication and collaboration tools is key for this role. Our client is based in Embu, Kenya , but this role is entirely remote.
