Job Description
Our client is looking for a highly accomplished Lead Bioinformatics Scientist with expertise in genomics to join their pioneering, fully remote research and development team. This critical role will involve the development and application of computational approaches to analyze large-scale genomic datasets. You will lead projects focused on identifying genetic variations, understanding gene expression patterns, and elucidating biological pathways relevant to disease mechanisms and therapeutic development. Your responsibilities will include designing bioinformatics pipelines, implementing advanced analytical methods, interpreting complex results, and contributing to scientific publications and grant proposals. You will collaborate closely with molecular biologists, geneticists, and other researchers in a virtual setting, driving innovation in genomic research.
The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. A minimum of 7-10 years of post-doctoral research or relevant industry experience in bioinformatics, with a strong specialization in genomics, is required. Proven expertise in analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data (e.g., WGS, WES, RNA-Seq) using established bioinformatics tools and pipelines (e.g., GATK, STAR, Cufflinks) is essential. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and shell scripting, along with experience in high-performance computing environments, is necessary. Strong statistical and machine learning skills are highly desirable. Excellent communication, collaboration, and project leadership abilities are paramount for success in this remote role. You should be adept at interpreting and presenting complex scientific data to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Evaluate and integrate new bioinformatics tools and technologies to enhance research capabilities.
- Contribute to grant writing and securing funding for research projects.
