This position requires a deep understanding of automotive electronic systems, engine performance, and specialized vehicle technologies. You will be responsible for interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic data to guide on-site technicians or vehicle owners through repair procedures. A key aspect of this role involves remote collaboration with a distributed team, including engineers and support staff, to resolve challenging automotive problems. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical skills, a meticulous approach to problem-solving, and the ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced remote diagnostics on complex automotive systems, including engine, transmission, ABS, SRS, and infotainment systems.
- Utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic software and hardware to identify faults and malfunctions.
- Provide clear, step-by-step guidance to field technicians or customers for diagnostic and repair processes.
- Collaborate with product development teams to provide feedback on diagnostic tools and vehicle performance.
- Maintain comprehensive records of diagnostic findings, repair actions, and resolutions.
- Stay current with the latest automotive technologies, diagnostic techniques, and industry trends.
- Develop and update technical documentation and training materials for remote use.
- Troubleshoot software-related issues on diagnostic equipment.
- Ensure the highest level of accuracy and efficiency in all diagnostic procedures.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of remote diagnostic services.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Automotive Diagnostics Technician, with a strong emphasis on modern vehicle systems.
- Expertise in using a variety of automotive diagnostic tools and software (e.g., OE scan tools, OBD-II scanners, oscilloscopes).
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle electronics, engine management systems, and powertrain technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal, for remote collaboration.
- Ability to interpret complex technical diagrams and schematics.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE) are highly desirable.
- Experience in a remote support or virtual consulting role is a plus.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Proficiency in using communication and collaboration tools.
