As the Lead AI Ethics and Governance Specialist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's AI ethics and governance strategy. This includes assessing potential risks associated with AI systems, designing mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. You will work collaboratively with AI research teams, product developers, legal counsel, and other stakeholders to embed ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle. Key responsibilities include developing comprehensive AI ethics principles and governance policies, establishing frameworks for ethical AI development and deployment, conducting ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for new AI initiatives, recommending and implementing safeguards to address bias, fairness, transparency, and accountability in AI systems, staying abreast of evolving AI regulations, industry best practices, and societal concerns related to AI, advising internal teams on ethical considerations and best practices, developing training programs for employees on AI ethics and responsible innovation, monitoring compliance with ethical guidelines and governance frameworks, and contributing to external discussions and thought leadership on AI ethics and governance. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Ethics, Law, Public Policy, or a related field is required; a Master's degree or Ph.D. with a specialization in AI ethics or governance is highly preferred. A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in AI ethics, responsible AI, technology governance, or a related field is essential. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing ethical frameworks or policies for AI systems is a must. Strong understanding of AI technologies, machine learning concepts, and potential ethical implications is critical. Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills are required. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are necessary for developing policies, delivering training, and engaging with diverse stakeholders. This remote position requires a proactive, self-motivated individual with strong ethical reasoning and the ability to navigate complex technical and societal issues. You will play a vital role in ensuring our client develops and deploys AI in a manner that is beneficial, fair, and trustworthy.

- Proven expertise in developing and implementing AI governance frameworks and ethical guidelines.
- Strong understanding of machine learning principles, AI algorithms, and their societal implications.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, LGPD) and their application to AI.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working effectively in a fully remote, cross-functional team environment.
- Ability to work remotely from **Eldoret, Uasin Gishu, KE** or any other approved location in Kenya.
