Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Research Scientist specializing in Materials Science to join their innovative research and development team. This role, based in **Kericho, Kericho, KE**, is dedicated to advancing the understanding and application of novel materials. You will lead cutting-edge research projects, from conceptualization through to experimental validation and potential commercialization. Responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments, analyzing complex data sets using advanced statistical methods, and interpreting results to drive scientific discovery. You will be expected to develop new materials, characterize their properties, and explore their potential applications across various industries. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers and product developers, to integrate new materials into existing or new product lines. The ideal candidate will possess a deep theoretical knowledge of materials science principles, coupled with extensive hands-on laboratory experience. Proficiency in materials characterization techniques (e.g., microscopy, spectroscopy, thermal analysis) and computational modeling is essential. You will also be responsible for preparing technical reports, publications, and presentations for both internal stakeholders and external scientific communities. This position allows for remote work with occasional site visits as needed.

- Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to translate research findings into practical applications.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements and emerging trends in materials science.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, research papers, and presentations.
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to a collaborative research environment.
- Manage research budgets and resources effectively.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral or industry research experience in materials science.
- Demonstrated expertise in materials synthesis, characterization (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, DSC), and performance evaluation.
- Strong understanding of materials processing and fabrication techniques.
- Proven ability to lead research projects and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and computational materials science tools (e.g., DFT, MD).
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly.
- Experience in a remote or hybrid research setting is beneficial.
